The PTA sponsors various programs throughout the year with the children in the classroom.

Environmental Awareness

The NHE PTA is committed to teaching our children about environmental awareness and striving to make NHE a green school.  We do this with the following programs:

  • National Walk to School day.  Walking to school is a great way to conserve energy, meet your neighbors, and improve your fitness level.  October 8, 2010 is the day to lace up your sneakers and walk to school.
  • NHE Earth Week is a week of learning and participating in programs for our NHE families to do their part for the environment.

Congratulations to Nicholas C. in Mrs. James' 4th grade class! His submission for the 2009-2010 National PTA Environmental Awareness program has moved on to the State Level.
See Nicholas' poem.

NHE Earth Week - Earth Day is April 22nd
Fun activities will be planned for the kids during this week to teach them more about what we all can do to help our environment.

Reflections
Reflections is an arts awareness program sponsored by the national PTA which offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition.

Students can prepare artwork in the categories of literature, music composition, dance choreography, film production, photography, and visual arts. Student projects will be judged at the school level and could go on to compete at the council, state, and national levels.

The 2010-2011 Reflections theme is “Together we can...”  Visit the Texas PTA website for more information on the Reflections art program.

Read a poem submitted by our own Amanda E. from 6th Grade.
