PTA assists the school counselor to promote Red Ribbon week drug awareness activities in October, coordinates volunteers for vision and hearing screening in the fall, and coordinates a drug awareness puppet show for first graders.
Red Ribbon Week
Daily themes and activities will be planned for each year
DRUG FREE IS THE WAY TO BE!
October 17th-21st, 2011
Monday
Don't Get Mixed Up With Drugs!
Wear mismatched clothes!
Students will get a red bracelet to wear for the week!
Tuesday
Team Up Against Drugs
Wear sports attire for a team you are on or a team you support!
Students will pledge to be drug free by signing a banner during lunch and will get a sticker to wear for the day!
Wednesday
OREO Day (Outstanding Responsible Energetic Organized Students are Drug Free)
Wear as much black and white as you possibly can!
There will be a prize for the class wearing the most black and white in A hall and B hall!
We will also have an Oreo stacking competition throughout the day!
Thursday
Give Drugs the Boot
Wear western attire (cowboy hats, boot, bandanas, button-up shirts, etc.)
Friday
Put a STOP to Drugs
Students will wear as much RED as they possibly can!
There will be a prize for the class from A hall and B hall with most red clothing articles!
Class posters will be hung in cafeteria and judged. There will be one winner from each hall to receive a special treat!
Vision and Hearing Screening
Yearly vision and hearing screenings are completed at the beginning of the school year.
